Kits from ExaByteSystems
Price: $14.00 - $15.00

Not
all CCFL kits are created equal. If you don't have
much experience in electronics and want to light up
your case, chances are you want a nice CCFL kit that
comes pre-assembled with everything you need. Big
thanks to Robert from exabytesystems.com
sending over some sample of their products. Let's
see how they perform. :)
Features:
-
Fully assembled
- 300mm
/ 100mm CCFL tube
- CCFL
tube is detachable from inverter
- Acrylic
tube with cube ends
- Cube
ends have a piece of double sided tape for mounting
- Momentary
switch (disassembles for case installation)
- Inverter
in aluminum box
- 4
pin molex connector

First
of all, the kit comes pretty much pre-assembled as
opposed to some of the kits we have seen when CCFL
first started gaining popularity among PC modders.
There is no soldering in the assemble process, and
all you have to do is to plug everything in. The picture
above shows the aluminum inverter that comes with
the CCFL kit that draws power from a 4pin molex connector.
It's got a switch hooked up to it, and there is no
extra wiring required to hook the kit up.

A
ring and nut is supplied along with the momentary
switch so that you could secure it over your computer,
and all you have to do is to drill a hole. If you
plan to leave it on whenever your computer is turned
on, you could always just leave the switch inside
of your case.

CCFL plug and inverter plug

There
are two types of kits available: 300mm and 100mm.
They're both very bright, and are cool to touch.
The neon light is encased in acrylic tubing and
is reasonably sturdy. There are double sided tapes
on both ends which makes it easy to adhere the light
anywhere inside of your case. The above picture
shows a 100mm UV light kit in action. :)

Bright white 100mm CCFL kit
Verdict
In general, this CCFL kit is nicely put
together and performs exceptionally well. It's easy
to hook up, bright, and the construction is sturdy.
The best part is that it's very reasonably priced
with all the nice features. The only downside is
that the inverter only allows you to hook up one
single light at a time, and so you need multiple
inverters if you plan to hook up multiple kits.
Nevertheless, it deserves our highly recommended
award! :)
