Price:
$13.50
We've
got a set of one of the most popular cold cathode
lighting kits on the market. Before we proceed, let's
take a quick look at what's included in the package.
Not shown with the picture is detailed specifications
as well as a quick installation guide of CCFL kit.

The
kit comes with a cold cathode fluorescence lamp (CCFL)
which is about 12" long, shielded in a transparent
acrylic casing, A few pieces of adhesive backed valcro
tapes, a Y power cable which draws power from a standard
4-pin molex adapter, an I/O switch and a washer for
the switch installation. Sounds like a complete kit
huh? You bet! That's just about all you'll need to
install the entire kit.

The best part is that everything is almost preassembled,
and all youneed to do is to hook up the switch, light,
and the inverter with your computer. The whole procedure
should take less than a minuet for just about anyone.
If you want to install the button nicely, you might
need a drill and some other tools to make the hole
through your case.
The
12V inverter that comes with the kit has two outlets,
which allows you to plug in two sets of lamps. It's
definitely a great feature which saves us some unwanted
wires in our computer cases. It would come in real
handy if you plan to install multiple kits inside
of your computer case.
The
CCFL lamp is enclosed within a clear protective acrylic
tube, which both ends are sealed with 2 small acrylic
cubes. It seems to be reasonably durable.
Installation
for the kit is as simple as it gets. All you need
to do is to hook up the molex connector that hooks
up to the inverter that comes with the kit, then plug
in the small connector to the CCFL and that's it.
It even comes with valcro tapes that lets you attach
and detach the light and inverter from your case.

It's
OHH so bright! |

As
you can see from the above pictures, these CCFLs are
amazingly bright. I'm sure most of us have no idea
what 18,000 ± 3,000 cd/m^2 stands for in terms
of brightness, but I believe those pictures could
give you a pretty good judgement. The best part is
that these lamps do not generate noticable heat at
all, so you don't really have to worry about heating
up the hardware components inside your computer case.
Verdict
There is nothing too fancy about the Sunbeam CCFL
kit, but it absolutely gets the job done nicely with
a pretty nice price tag. The dual inverter makes it
stand out from the crowd and is a great option for
those who plan to install multiple kits. The Sunbeam
CCFL kit is without a doubt, one of the best kits
availalbe on the market.
