Vantec SF8025L
Stealth Cooling Fan

http://www.vantecusa.com
MSRP: $9.95

This week we have tested another popular case fan on the market made by Vantec. The Stealth series come in 4 different models: 60mm, 80m, 92mm, and 120mm. Our subject this time is the 80x80x25mm version. Before we proceed, let's take a look at the highlights and specs.

  • 80% Quieter Than Standard Case Fan.
  • Double Ball Bearing Fans for Extended Life.
  • Smart Fan with Speed Detection.
  • Comes W/A 3 to 4 Pin Adapter & 4 Fan Screws.
  • Lifetime Warranty.

Specification:

80x80x25mm
Rated Voltage: 12v
Bearing Type: Double Ball Bearing
Input Current: 0.15A
Rotation Speed: 2050RPM
Acoustical Noise: 21 dB(A)
Air Flow 27 CFM
Input Power: 1.20W

From the specs, this fan seems to offer a little less air flow than the CoolerMaster TFL-R82 we have tested, but it seems to produce less noise. Let's see how it really performs.

The package, like the rest of the packaged case fans, includes a 3 pin to 4 pin converter, and 4 screws for securing the fan to your computer case. This allows you to connect the fan to either your motherboard's fan header or draw power from a 4 pin Molex connector from your power supply, which leaves you with options of how to hook up your case fan.

The fan construction is quite sturdy, but then there really is nothing special about the design or anything. It looks almost exactly like the cheapest 80mm fan you can get. If you don't like all the fancy designs out there, this might be good news for you. The true value of the fan comes from its performance.

The Vantec Stealth is very, very quiet. It's double ball bearing design allows it to run steadily without much vibration while producing minimal noise. It may run at a slower RPM and produces slightly less air flow than some other 80mm fans, this is definitely a good choice if noise level is your primary concern.

Verdict
The Vantec Stealth series is definitely a good choice if noise level is your primary concern. With the nice package, good quality, and life time warranty, it's definitely a great buy at this price level.
