Evercool FAN-AL8025B
80x80x25mm Aluminum Frame Case Fan Kit
MSRP: $15.99

With all the new case fans competing for the market, Evercool has made an move creating a series of aluminum fans. AL8025B model we're testing here is the basic 80x80x25mm model, and there is an AL8025B-A model with a fan alarm. To see how this fan performs, let's first take a quick look at its specs.

Specification:

80x80x25mm
Rated Voltage: 12v
Bearing Type: Ball Bearing
Input Current: 0.13
Rotation Speed: 2500RPM
Acoustical Noise: < 28 dB

The package includes a 3 pin to 4 pin convertor, and 4 screws for securing the fan to your computer case. This seems to have become a standard in these boxed fan cases. The adapter allows you to connect the fan to either your motherboard's fan header or draw power from a 4 pin Molex connector from your power supply.

The entire frame of the fan is made of aluminum, which makes the fan actually cool to touch. The aluminum casing makes the fan construction very tough comparing to all the plastic fans out there. That, however, adds a significant weight to the fan... which may or may not be a problem to you.

You might ask, why aluminum? My best guess is for the looks, and maybe heat dissipation. I agree this fan does look pretty cool and sets itself apart from its competition. However, I seriously doubt how the aluminum casing will help you cool down your computer or any components at a notable level. Note that the fins seem to be made of plastic with a metalic coat.

Let's see how it looks when we plug it in.
