Altec Lansing 251
I
have always loved Altec Lansing speakers over the
years since they have a reputation of putting together
quality speakers at a very attractive price. Their
recent release six speaker system 251 really caught
my eye when I saw the price tag at $99.95. Before
we dive in for an in depth review, let’s take
a quick look at its specs.

Specs
acquired from Altec Lansing’s official site:
- 60 Watts Total Continuous Power RMS (2x6.5 W/Front;
2x7.2 W/Rear; 7.6 W/Center; 25 W/Sub)
- 90 Watts Total Peak Power
- Deep-Bass, Compact Subwoofer
- 6-Speaker Surround
- Performance Drivers
- Built-In Controls
- Headphone Jack
- Distinctive, All-Decor Styling
- Total Connectivity
- Dual Mode Selector
- Color-Coded Cables
- Shielded Satellites
Upon
opening the package, you’ll find 5 speakers
that look pretty much alike at first glance. The package
comes with two 6.5W front speakers, two 7.2W rear
speakers, a 7.6W center channel speaker, and a 25W
9” subwoofer. The system provides 60W RMS, meaning
it can pump out 60 clean watts without distortion.
In other words, it’s more than enough for our
rooms.
